MOJO, the band

Brian – Lead Guitar

Brian - Lead Guitar

Brian’s dream was to play in the NBA. But after it was discovered that he was too slow, too short, too white and had a lousy shot, he turned to the only other thing a scrawny long haired kid could do to get laid….play guitar. This however, did not help him to get laid. Brian started playing guitar at 15 and has been obsessed with music ever since. What he lacked in skill with the ladies, he made up for with his fretboard gymnastics. He has two degrees in music: Associates in the Arts from NVCC and a BS in Music Management from Old Dominion University. He has studied classical guitar, played keyboards, drums and bass in a variety of bands, but has always returned to his first musical love; the guitar. Soon he was off playing every two bit, run down, honky tonk from Maine to Florida. He also played some bad places. Happily he swilled beer and ate cheeseburgers until (at age 40) he realized there was something more to life than playing guitar. That’s when he discovered (drum roll please) the mandolin which has decidedly become his second instrument. He also plays Mountain Dulicmer, Mandola, Dobro, Octave Mandolin and Harmonica. Brian was found by MOJO along Dale Blvd. holding a sign saying “Will play for Beer and Cheeseburgers”. The rest is history. He also plays with his Norfolk based band, Push (recording their 2nd album in IAR Studios in New York City with Dan Grisby – Dan has worked with artist such as U2, Sting, Keith Richards and Joe Cocker). He also kills brain cells and insults audiences with his folk duo 22. So, listen to him play and be thankful he hasn’t bred!
